Google Calendar

Google Calendar is a time-management tool available without charge to anyone with a free Google Account. It allows users view and add events and drag-and-drop events from one location to another without reloading. It can be viewed in a number of modes such as monthly and weekly and the user can choose the number of days to be displayed in the custom view mode. It also includes a to-do list option.

With the events stored online, a user’s calendar can be accessed from any computer and in the case of a computer crash, no data is lost. Multiple calendars can be created and displayed in a single view, shown side-by-side in different colors. They can be shared among families and groups allowing read-only or full control making it useful for business projects, teachers, event planning and scheduling and many other applications.

Other Google services are integrated with Google Calendar such as gmail. An email that triggers specific words like “meeting” or times and dates, will prompt an “add to calendar” button to be automatically displayed. Gadgets can be used to choose which day the week begins on, how time is displayed and an “add event” link. A mini-calendar gadget can be used to allow you to place the calendar on your desktop with no need to open the browser to view.

The Google Calendar can be used with the Blackberry, iPhone, Palm and Pocket PC for mobile access Access calendar.google.com from a mobile phone to see detailed upcoming events.
