Alan Wolk

Alan Wolk’s blog, The Toad Stool, has been cited by Adweek Editor Brian Morrissey as “one of the ‘must read’ blogs for our industry”. It is a thought leadership site that examines the merging of marketing, advertising and the Web 2.0 social sphere. The Toad Stool has also been selected for the exclusive Alltop blog aggregation website.

His popular blog series, “Your Brand is Not My Friend”, where Wolk discusses the false assumptions many marketers hold regarding social media, has gained significant attention in the blogosphere. It has expanded to columns on the top 20 blog, MPDailyFix, as well as Adweek and a national syndication with Newstex.

A graduate of the Boston University School of Law and editor of the International Law Review, Wolk represents the creative side of the marketing business. He was a successful advertising creative director in the 1990s with Anderson & Lembke, Ogilvy and JWT. This hands-on experience along with Wolk’s strategic common sense make him a leader in thought leadership, consulting and speaking.

In a recent blog post on The Toad Stool, Wolk sums up the Web 2.0 relationship between business and consumer:

Because as I’ve written previously, social media always involves a value exchange. I will become your friend if you give me something in return: information, money, entertainment, or, in the case of Prom King Brands, coolness.”
