David Meerman Scott is a viral marketing strategist and online thought leader. With a BA in Economics from Kenyon College in 1983, Scott served as VP of marketing for two technology firms and as marketing director for Knight-Ridder’s Asia division. He now serves on the boards of Kadient, Nashaquisset and HubSpot.
Scott is the author of five marketing books, including the 2009 World Wide Rave. His other books are New Rules of Marketing & PR , Tuned In, New Rules of Marketing & PR ,and Eyeball Wars.
His blog, WebInkNow, is ranked as one of the top marketing blogs. Scott has shown that PR marketing rules are vastly different in mainstream media and on the Web. While mainstream PR media depends on expensive advertising and begging media for exposure, the social media of the Web allows anyone to use tools such as blogs, online news releases, podcasts, and viral marketing techniques to “publish their way in”.
